Biography
Jason Duval grew up around grifters and crooks, the kind of upbringing that gives you two options: keep going or get out. He picked the Army, hoping a few years in uniform could put real distance between him and where he came from. It didn't stick. He ended up back in the Leonida Keys working for local drug runners, which is a fairly blunt way of saying the exit he tried never quite closed the door behind him.
Living off Brian Heder's goodwill
These days Jason lives rent-free at one of Brian Heder's properties, a veteran smuggler who lets him stay in exchange for handling local shakedowns. It's not charity so much as an arrangement, the kind two people settle into when one has more leverage than the other. Cal Hampton, Jason's friend and a fellow fixture in Brian's orbit, rounds out the small circle of people Jason actually trusts.
Wanting an easy life and not getting one
Rockstar's own framing of him is almost sympathetic: he wants an easy life, and things keep getting harder anyway. That's before Lucia even enters the picture. Meeting her is described as something that could be the best thing that ever happens to him or the worst, and the story doesn't seem interested in deciding that for you ahead of time.
The jobs
What's been shown of Jason in motion backs up that description: pickups for people like Boobie Ike, high-speed getaways alongside Raul Bautista, shootouts, stolen cars, and a stretch working corporate security with Lucia for Andres de Leon that turns into something much worse than a paycheck.
How he actually plays
Jason's appearance shifts with how you actually play him, eating changes his weight, exercise adds muscle, and staying up all night on jobs visibly wears him down. He and Lucia share vehicles during missions, switching between driving and shooting or between driver and passenger depending on what a given moment calls for. The relationship between them has a romantic option, but it's optional, and the story keeps the two of them leaning on each other either way, strained or not.
What's still unconfirmed
Troy Baker has publicly denied voicing Jason, and Rockstar hasn't announced a cast, so any specific name attached to the role right now is speculation, not confirmation.
