Jason Duval

Jason Duval is an Army veteran and drug runner who shares GTA 6's lead role with Lucia Caminos. His life in the Leonida Keys depends on criminal work, a housing arrangement with Brian Heder and a relationship that draws him into increasingly dangerous jobs.

How Jason ended up in the Keys

Jason grew up around criminals. Joining the Army was an attempt to get away from his troubled teenage years, but he later returned to familiar work, running jobs for drug traffickers in the Keys. His official background establishes military service without naming a rank, unit or combat deployment. Rockstar presents him as someone seeking an easier life, while Lucia's place in his future remains uncertain.

Brian, Cal and his everyday life

Brian Heder provides his home without charging rent. The arrangement comes with obligations: Jason helps with local shakedowns and visits Brian and Lori. His friend Cal Hampton also belongs to Brian's circle, so Jason's work and social life overlap. He also admits feeling more comfortable with a gun than a social occasion, a less confident side to the man who takes on the dangerous work.

His partnership with Lucia

Jason and Lucia are a couple as well as criminal partners. An Extended Look shows them negotiating everyday decisions alongside much more serious risks. A collection for Boobie Ike takes them to Raymond's apartment, while a later encounter with Raul Bautista turns a car delivery into a bank-robbery getaway. They also work as security for Andres de Leon at a Megamundo event.

At Raymond's apartment, a call from Ernesto warns of an approaching task force. The collection becomes a fight to escape. Jason and Lucia recognize Mendez among the officers and worry about whether he has seen them, revealing an existing connection whose history is still unexplained. Their route also takes them through Aunt Tee's home, where she protests at the intrusion.

Raul's getaway offers a possible opening into his crew. Afterwards, Jason and Lucia discuss whether surviving the job means they are in, and whether their new contact can help with their own problems. Those questions keep the partnership provisional even after they have worked together.

At Megamundo, Jason has to bring Andres out of a conference room because Petra Navarro wants him downstairs for the speech. Managing the client's behavior becomes a fight to protect him when armed intruders attack the gathering.

These sequences establish Jason's involvement in the revealed jobs without providing the full order of the campaign.

Playing as Jason

Dazed's Rockstar interview describes switching between the protagonists while they travel together, as well as letting them spend time apart. Its example moves control from Jason at the wheel to Lucia using her phone in the passenger seat. Both remain part of the journey, with different things to do.

The preview also reports that food changes their weight, exercise affects muscle and missed rest shows in their appearance. These are reported systems shared by the two leads, rather than abilities exclusive to Jason.
