GTA 6's Extended Look topped Netflix's English film chart for August 24 to 30, 2026, recording 31.1 million views. Netflix's September 1 report also places it at No. 1 in 87 of the 93 countries tracked.

The presentation finished ahead of The Whisper Man, which recorded 23.2 million views on the same English film list. It is an unusually prominent chart result for a video introducing a game.

What Netflix means by a view

Netflix calculates views by dividing total hours watched by a title's runtime. It introduced this ranking method in June 2023 to make comparisons less dependent on whether a title is long or short.

The 31.1 million figure is therefore a total expressed in complete-runtime equivalents. It is not a count of separate people, accounts or viewers who watched the presentation from beginning to end. Repeat viewing and partial viewing both contribute to the underlying hours.

Using the 27-minute runtime stated in Netflix's report, 31.1 million views correspond to approximately 14 million hours of viewing. That calculation is useful because it translates the normalized figure back into the time behind it.

Why the reporting window matters

The weekly chart covers Monday through Sunday. This result belongs to the presentation's debut week, so it should not be presented as its current lifetime total. The country ranking likewise describes that period.

It also covers Netflix viewing. Adding a YouTube counter would combine two different measurements without telling us how many people watched on both services.

Attention and purchases answer different questions

The chart shows that the presentation attracted substantial viewing on Netflix. It does not measure how many of those viewers own a compatible console or intend to buy the game.

The separate preorder estimates and UK hardware figures describe purchasing activity around the same period. Keeping those measures distinct makes the scale of each result easier to understand.
