GTA 6 is officially coming to Xbox Series X on November 19, 2026. Rockstar’s GTA VI page names Xbox Series X|S alongside PS5, while the Microsoft Store listing gives the same date and platform family. Digital pre-orders can begin preloading on November 12 at local midnight. That preload timestamp is not a confirmed hour for playable access.
For the live calendar and cross-platform overview, use the GTA 6 Launch Hub. This page stays focused on what a Series X owner can verify before launch.

What the Series X listing confirms
Take-Two’s preorder announcement identifies Xbox Series X|S as launch systems and places the Standard Edition at $79.99 and Ultimate Edition at $99.99 in its US announcement. Those figures should not be converted into unofficial regional prices. The price guide handles price and region questions, while the edition comparison separates the included content.
The platform label is also narrower than it may look. It confirms compatibility with Series X; it does not confirm Xbox One support, a Windows license, Xbox Play Anywhere, cloud access or a subscription entitlement. The Xbox One guide addresses the older hardware separately.

Preload and the code-in-box format
Rockstar Support says digital pre-orders begin preloading at local midnight on November 12, 2026. It also says the physical Standard package contains a download code and no disc. A Series X model with an optical drive therefore does not install this release from a game disc; the code still leads to a digital download.
A code redeemed before launch can prepare the download, but Rockstar’s support page does not turn November 12 into early access. Keep the preload guide separate from any later announcement about playable launch hours. Before ordering a box, check the product, seller and account details in the buying guide.
Series X hardware is not a GTA 6 specification
Xbox’s Series X page describes the console family’s general hardware and display capabilities. “Up to 120 FPS” and “true 4K” are platform-level claims with content and display conditions; they do not announce GTA VI at 120 FPS, native 4K or any particular ray-tracing setting.
Rockstar has not published a Series X graphics-mode menu in the official material reviewed here. The useful questions remain the named modes, internal and output resolution, frame-rate target, frame pacing and results in demanding scenes. Our 60 FPS evidence guide tracks that technical question without turning console marketing into a game benchmark.
Series X or Series S?
Both Xbox consoles are supported, but support does not mean their final rendering settings will be identical. If you already own Series X, there is no need to infer a missing advantage just to validate the purchase. If you are choosing between the two machines, read the dedicated Series S guide for its all-digital purchase and storage considerations.
Players comparing console families can use the PS5 versus Series X buying guide. Until like-for-like retail testing exists, controller preference, existing library, local price and the console you already own are firmer inputs than an invented resolution table.
Questions readers ask
Is GTA 6 confirmed for Xbox Series X?
Yes. Rockstar, Take-Two and Xbox all list Xbox Series X|S for November 19, 2026.
Will GTA 6 run at 60 FPS on Series X?
The official sources reviewed here do not confirm a 60 FPS mode. Series X hardware capability alone cannot answer that game-specific question.
Does the boxed Xbox version include a disc?
No. Rockstar says the physical package contains a download code and no disc, so installation still requires a download.
